Knack is a free peer-to-peer tutoring platform that connects you with students from University of Utah who’ve already aced your classes. They know what it takes to excel and they’re here to help you do the same.
The Unviersity of Utah has 10+ tutor services available to students for free! Learn more about the U's campus tutoring services.
We encourage students to check out other campus tutoring services for assistance with courses not supported by Knack tutoring.
Visit Knack's website and sign in with CIS or your @utah.edu email address to access free tutoring through Knack. If you sign in with your personal email address, you will not be able to access tutoring.

Knack tutoring is free for all University of Utah students!
A student can request up to 3 hours per week of tutoring per class.
Wait time for responses to tutor requests depend on the course you request tutoring for. All qualified Knack tutors will receive the request so it can take anywhere from a couple hours to a few days to get a resopnse. Tutoring requests remain active for one week.
Tutoring requests remain active for one week. If you have not gotten a response within a week, your request will be canceled. You will need to submit a new request. Sometimes requests will go unanswered if tutors are not able to meet students at the times they are available or if their schedules are already full. If you have multiple requests that go unanswered, please reach out to learningcenter@utah.edu.
Tutor FAQ
Yes! Knack tutors are hired as independent contractors which is separate from University of Utah employment.
The University of Utah Learning Center sets requirements for Knack tutors, and Knack evaluates and hires applicants. Learn more about the requirements on Knack's website.
Yes! Knack tutors must complete an online training and can participate in additional Knack training.
Knack tutors receive $14/hour.
Knack tutors are allowed to work up to 15 hours per week.
At this time, international students are not able to tutor with Knack. If you are an international students who wants to work for Knack, you may contact Knack by emailing info@joinknack.com.
